Summer Baby Carrier Guide

Comparing our favourite baby carriers for hot weather - Ergo 360, Tula Explore Coast and Lillebaby Complete Airflow!

We prefer these carriers because they are great from newborn age up without any extra inserts (which can be hot and bulky), and can face out ergonomically and safely for baby's hips. Even then, each has its pros and cons, so we're here to make the buying decision a little easier for you! All three baby carriers are multi-position carriers that can be worn in the front, back and both sides and all three are suitable for breastfeeding inside.

Ergo Omni360

Summer Baby Carrier Guide

One of the most well-known brands, and for good reason! They come in many versatile and gender neutral solids (shades of grey and blue are most popular and make great hand-me-downs).

Pros

  • Easiest to adjust sizing on the seat width
  • Extra wide waist band for better weight distribution, also makes it more suitable for bigger frames
  • Crossable straps to relieve stress on shoulders

Cons

  • Velcro waistband offers extra security but not great for transferring a sleeping baby
  • Bulkier than the other two options
  • Not as many fun color/prints

Tula Explore Coast

Summer Baby Carrier Guide

Their popularity in the US is almost cult-like, and once you've tried one it's easy to see why! We find it's particularly comfortable on people with smaller frames (one of the reasons why it's so popular with moms compared to dads), and even the cotton version is very breathable and doesn't get too hot. Comes in standard and toddler versions

Pros

  • Lots of great color and print options
  • Lightweight and not very bulky, suitable for smaller frames
  • The soft fabric makes younger babies feel more comfortable in it (try this out if your baby doesn't seem to like other carriers!)
  • No velcro, very secure and easy to adjust arm and waist straps

Cons

  • Mesh panel is not as big as the other two
  • Seat adjustment with snaps and front panel width adjustment with buttons is less straight-forward than velcro, but easier than the Lillebaby mechanism

Lillebaby Complete Airflow

Summer Baby Carrier Guide

We love this one for how lightweight and breathable it is since the whole front panel of the carrier is made from a mesh material that allows maximum airflow. It's got great, clever features too like a big front zip pocket for your phone, some money and keys if you're going out for a quick run.

Pros

  • Maximum coolness and airflow with the entire front panel made of mesh material
  • Lightweight and the soft, mesh fabric makes it more comfortable for younger babies (try this out if your baby doesn't seem to like other carriers!)
  • Extra removable lumbar support
  • No velcro, very secure and easy to adjust arm and waist straps
  • Great, clever features like roomy pockets, mesh canopy cover

Cons

  • Not as many color/print options
  • The mechanism to change from newborn/face-out seating to face-in seating can be difficult to get used to

These will typically be comfortable until 1.5-2yo at which point you could consider switching to a toddler carrier if you'd like. Hip seat carriers are also a popular choice for those needing extra support and weight distribution from a younger age - you'll know if that's you when you get there! We have access to many more carriers within these brands than we have on our website, so if you're looking for something specific that you can't find, send us an email and we'll see if we can source it for you in Asia!
